Dundee City Council
Dundee is the perfect city for Electric Vehicles and we pride ourselves on being Scotland’s leading city in the adoption, promotion and operation of electric vehicles. As the city is small and compact it makes the city especially well-suited to widespread EV use.
Dundee City Council first launched 100% electric vehicles into its Fleet in 2011 with the introduction of the first 4 cars and chargers at one of its depot. It has since growth to be one of the largest EV fleets of any Local Authority in the UK. Our goal is to have all council ran cars, small and medium vans all electric by the end of 2022. The council have recently introduced 4 x electric RCV’s Dennis Eagle, 2 x Orion E Mellor minibuses and 1 x pure electric Johnston Sweeper.
To date, Dundee has one of the highest concentrations of Electric Vehicles (EVs) of any city in the UK. One of the most significant transport sectors to adopt electric vehicles in Dundee has been the taxi industry, with 25% (128 vehicles) of all taxis presently 100% electric. This transition to e-mobility has been achieved by progressive policy changes and continued Council/ taxi trade engagement.
